Today , July 15th 2010, the centenary hall of Madras University was buzzing with huge number of fans who were invited for the launch of Vijay starrer Velayutham which is supposed to be his 52nd flick.

The function was expected to start by 9.30 am, fans gathered and occupied their seats an hour before the start to witness this gala opening. The cast and crew of Velayutham arrived minutes before the start and atlast Vijay arrived amidst huge cheers and chanting of his name. Any movie launch starts by lighting the Kuthu Vilakku and this function was not an exception. Fans from pondycherry who were present there , handed over the Olympic torch to Vijay who then lit the kuthuvilakku along with his wife Sangeetha, parents S.A Chandrasekhar And Shobha ChandraSekhar, producer Sridhar and his wife Meera and Editor Mohan and his family.

To everyones surprise a short trailer of the movie was played and all the fans were on their feet, auditorium erupted with huge cheers.

Later, the cast and crew of Velayutham spoke few lines about the movie.

First it was Vijay antony who seemed to be oozing out with confidence said this movie will be one of the Super Hits of this year.

Then it was turn for the the Captain of the ship – director Raja, who said Velayutham will be one of the career best movies for Vijay and was very happy to work with him.

Then a book on Vijay ‘Sadhanai Sarithram’ which was written by his PRO was unveiled by Raja and received by Vijay.

Then Vijay was welcomed to speak, he always mentions about his fans in all the functions, here he said ‘ Fans have always been my strength who share major part of my success ‘. Though there were no special invitees for the function, Vijay was overwhelmed by the fans presence and said ‘You all are my special invitees for this function’. He was also happy to work with Raja who has given major hits under his direction. Vijay also expressed his willingness to work with lady leads Genelia and Hansika and wished the entire team all success and thanked all the fans who supported the function in large numbers.

Later food was served to all his fans who were present for the function and Velayutham T shirts were also distributed.

Watch out for something big, the trailer looks promising , cast and crew of the movie is astonishing and a perfect platform for winning is set.

Vijay’s 52nd film Velayutham with Jayam Raja is expected to kick start with the launch function in a grand way on July 15th. It is a known fact that Aascar Ravichandran invites big wigs as chief guests for functions of his movies. Earlier Sharukh Khan was rumoured to be part of the fucntion. Now the latest secret buzz is that he has invited Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni to add his star value to the function.

Dhoni already shared a good rapport with Vijay earlier when Vijay was the star ambassador for Dhoni’s CSK team during 2008. It is however not sure whether the Indian captain will be able to make it to the function amidst the tight schedule of the team in Srilanka and is yet to confirm his presence. But with our Ilayathalapathy Vijay and other stars sharing stage, it is sure to be a grand gala launch for one of the most expected films.

Velayudham directed by Jayam Raja has Genelia and Hansika Motwani sharing the screen space with Vijay and is expected to be a family entertainer like Jayam Raja’s earlier films. Vijay Antony will score the music for the film. The promo stills of the film are said to have come out very well with Vijay looking stunningly stylish in them. Let’s wait to get a glimpse of them very soon.?

If it was just an influence from others that made us his fans, we would have changed after all negative campaigns in recent past that went against him.

But these are not just the reasons for us to be his fans. His charisma, personality, the excitement we get when we see him onscreen, the love he shows towards us, his deeds, characteristics, his simplicity and humble nature even when he is at peak of stardom, his boy next door charm and above all that cutest sweetest smile that is worth millions – These are just few things which we would cherish as his fans. And the list is endless.

Any actor’s career graph definitely has highs and lows but all that matters is how successful he is in delivering what is expected out of him even in the lean phase. That way, Vijay has always been successful inspite of his directors or scripts failing to make an impact. And even today, his single name creating hype for a film as huge as multiple big wigs put together is something remarkable only Vijay can achieve.

He acts for entertaining his fans not for awards. He comes on television not for promoting his films but for interacting with his fans. He supports charity not for fame but to inculcate that habit in each of his fans. He speaks not with his attitude, but through his films. And he celebrates his birthdays not by day long partying but by meeting his fans, which is what he considers as real happiness.

He has given us the pride and happiness of being his fans and he has done brilliant films that we can cherish for a lifetime. Let’s not forget all that  and lose ourselves to momentary pleasures or regrets. For all that he has done to us till now, all we can pay back is being with him throughout, especially when he needs us the most.
